CEO at GCC CIGRE: 5 Billion Dirhams, EtihadWE Invested Over 4 Years

16 Nov 2023

Etihad Water and Electricity Company (EtihadWE) revealed, on the sidelines of the CIGRE – GCC Power 2023, which concluded its events yesterday in Abu Dhabi with the participation of 800 experts in the field of electricity, the extent of the company's investments over 4 years, confirming that it reached 5 billion dirhams.

Engineer Yousif Ahmed Al Ali, the CEO of the company, affirmed to "Albayan" that the mentioned investment value includes the Naqaa seawater desalination plant utilizing reverse osmosis technology. Additionally, it encompasses a series of water network development projects. He pointed out that the company employs gravitational force in water pumping and distribution systems, replacing the traditional pumping method. This achievement is a source of pride for EtihadWE, considering its significant role in conserving energy consumed by traditional pumping systems.

He explained that the selection of Al Khuraijah area in Ras Al Khaimah for establishing a water storage and distribution center was based on several considerations. The area is relatively close to the Naqaa desalination plant site and simultaneously serves as an intermediary zone between the northern regions of the UAE. Moreover, it is situated at the highest geographical position in the western part of the emirate, facilitating reliance on gravity in pumping and distribution.

It is noteworthy that the CEO of Etihad Water and Electricity Company stated a few days ago that the CIGRE GCC Conference and Exhibition represents a leading regional platform in electric power systems and technologies. It brings together elite companies and entities operating in these crucial sectors in the Gulf area, attracting industry and technology experts from around the world to participate.
