CEO of “Etihad Water and Electricity”: Emirati Women Play Active Role in National Journey to Build the Future

28 Aug 2023

Engineer Yousif Ahmed Al Ali, CEO of Etihad Water and Electricity Company (EtihadWE), stated that supporting and empowering women is a solid approach in the distinguished model of the UAE, affirming that Emirati women, in turn, have lived up to high expectations. They have proven their ability to achieve remarkable success in all sectors, leaving their mark across various fields and continuing to play an active role in the national journey to build the future.

Al Ali commended the efforts of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), ‘Mother of the Emirates,’ in building the capacities of Emirati women and enhancing their roles in the UAE's journey of sustainable development across diverse sectors, including healthcare, education, space, advanced technology, energy, climate change, and more. He noted that Her Highness's selection of the theme "We Collaborate for Tomorrow" to be the theme of Emirati Women's Day this year is a wise choice, aligning with this year's national theme "Today for Tomorrow," launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, with the aim of highlighting the UAE's significant efforts and contributions in overcoming sustainability challenges. It also underscores ‘gender participation’ as a fundamental value in Emirati society.

He added, "At EtihadWE, we appreciate the efforts of women and their prominent roles in all the successes the company has achieved over its longstanding journey. Simultaneously, we continue our efforts to empower women and ensure their continuity in fulfilling this role in the future. This is achieved by creating an encouraging environment, offering opportunities for them to be present in all positions, and allowing them to take leadership roles in both administrative and technical sectors. This includes launching initiatives that empower them to balance their family duties and professional roles."
